Strolling through Finnieston in Glasgow’s faux West End before a gig, Mrs Gangsta and I were looking for somewhere to fuel up before a night of rock and fuckin’ roll.
Thai Siam has been up and running for many years but we’d never ventured in until now. The decor is basic enough and it’s a clean, small joint, with a bar taking up most of the space near the entrance. Thankfully there was a table for us and we got settled and ordered a few Chang beers.
We opted for the pre-theatre menu and I went for pork spare ribs to start and the jungle curry as a main. As far as ribs go, these were pretty standard, but the jungle curry was a winner. Tender chicken pieces and big chunks of raw chilli in a spicy broth – proper gangsta fayre.
The chicken satay starter got the thumbs up from Mrs Gangsta while her choice for main course, the beef Massamun curry also won her approval.
We barely had room for the excellent banana fritter and ice cream dessert, but refusing free ice cream ain’t in this gangsta’s game.
Fast and friendly service, good beer and top grub – setting us up perfectly for the gig.
