We took a day trip to Dubrovnik from our honeymoon destination, Becici in Montenegro.
The bus trip is around two hours each way and can be booked (€25pp) from countless vendors along Becici and Budva beaches. When you’re this close to one of the most beautiful cities in the world, you have to visit.
And, damn, are we glad we did. Dubrovnik is right up there with the most picturesque places I’ve ever laid eyes on. Famous, of course, for its use in the hit TV show Game Of Thrones, you could easily spend hours visiting locations used in the show. From Cercei’s walk of shame to Tyrion’s triumphant orchestration of the battle of the Blackwater – there’s plenty for GOT geeks to get their panties in a bunch over.
Entrance to the City Walls of Dubrovnik costs 150Kuna per person, so definitely consider the Dubrovnik Card for a few pennies more as it gets you entrance to the City Walls as well as many other sights. The Card can be bought at all Tourist Info spots.
To reach the top of the City Walls you have to climb quite a lot of stairs….no mean feat in 30degree heat. But the walk once you’re up there is gorgeous and there are many nooks and crannies to explore and also places to grab a well-deserved cold beer.
The walls cover the entire circumference of the Old Town so it’ll take a while to do it all, but you won’t get bored. Not with views like this.
If you don’t have the time to make the City Wall walk, even just a stroll around the Old Town will blow your mind. It’s damn near perfect.
