On honeymoon, you gotta put street cred to one side and bust out the romance.
Well, I damn sure outdid myself when I booked this spot. We couldn’t have been happier with the food, service and atmosphere at Dukley.
I should point out that this is a review of the Dukley Beach Lounge at the Becici end of Budva, as opposed to the Dukley Beach Club which is in the Old Town (and is also very nice, for the record). In fact, Dukley offer a free water taxi for customers going between the two restaurants, which is a nice touch.
Our starters at the Beach Club were excellent and the main courses a class above many of the places we ate in Budva…and we didn’t really have a bad meal anywhere in Budva, so Dukley really was excellent.
I’m not big on seafood so went for chicken pasta, while my wife opted for the octopus, which she loved.
My cheesecake dessert was superb and the Montenegrin rose wine (€30 a bottle) was perfect.
We had mentioned we were on honeymoon (hey, you’d be a fool not to) and were invited to watch a film at the outdoor seaside cinema, which was a lovely touch and a great way to end the night.
I can’t be sure if the cinema offer was just the staff being nice as we were on honeymoon, or if this is offered to all restaurant guests. There is a bar at the outdoor cinema and we couldn’t resist sharing another bottle of the brilliant local wine. Yeah, it was that kind of night.
Lying on a sun lounger, a few feet from the ocean on a perfect warm night – pure class…even if the film was the least gangsta shit of all time. The Bodyguard? God damn. And there I was worrying about street cred.
Definitely visit Dukley for dinner or lunch if you’re in the area. You’ll be hard pressed to find better food or service anywhere in Becici or Budva.
