Ammoudara, near Heraklion on the Greek Island of Crete, is not a party town. It’s definitely geared up for families and ageing party animals like myself and Mrs Gangsta rather than at the 18-30 hordes.
We stayed just round the corner from here and ate at this restaurant twice in the course of 10 days.
The young waiter we had on both nights was chatty and friendly and made it a memorable place to eat. Well, that and all the cats! Thankfully we love animals so enjoyed having the kitties everywhere.
The food was lovely, particularly the grilled feta starter. Great beer and wine too and at excellent prices.
It was never very busy and that’s probably mainly down to the fact that this restaurant is one of the few that is on the ‘wrong’ side of the hotels and therefore isn’t on the route to the main strip of town, so doesn’t get as much passing trade.
Thankfully we turned left from our hotel one night for a change and found this great spot.
